Deleted CPT Code Updates 2009

The AMA recently released the 2009 CPT Code Updates which become effective Jan 1.

There are over 90 codes that need to be deleted by Jan 1, 2009 in order for you to be compliant. Over 70% of the deleted codes occur in the following four sections: E/M, Surgery, Radiology, and Medicine.


Deleted CPT Code Updates 2009

  • Over 90 Deleted codes.
  • 15 in the Evaluation and Management Section, 11 in the Surgery Section, 6 in the Radiology Section and 37 in the Medicine Section.
  • The E/M section deletions occur in the following subsections: Pediatric Critical Care Patient Transport, Inpatient Neonatal and Pediatric Critical Care and Intensive Services and Newborn Care.
  • Pathology and Laboratory – only 1 code deleted, 88400 Bilirubin, total, transcutaneous.
